National team to host Colombia for friendlies

Korea set to host Colombia as manager Shin Sang-woo looks ahead to the 2026 Asian Cup

South Korea’s senior women’s team are set to host Colombia in an upcoming two-match series. These are the first A matches to be held in Korea since Shin Sang-woo took over as manager of the national team late last year.

Under his leadership, Korea were champions at the Pink Ladies Cup tournament held in the UAE in February, but have been less successful in friendly fixtures away from home. The team’s most recent action was in a pair of friendlies in Australia last month, where they had some promising moments but ultimately failed to score against the Matildas.

These fixtures come as Korea looks ahead to the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, a qualifying competition for the 2027 Women’s World Cup and the 2028 Olympics. Players have previously been vocal about the need for more A matches to help the national team develop and improve, and friendlies on home soil are also a good opportunity to attract fans and foster enthusiasm for the women’s game.

The first match against Colombia will take place on Friday, 30th May at 19:00, at the Incheon Asiad stadium, home of WK League side Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels. The second match is scheduled for the same time on Monday, 2nd June at the Yongin Mir Stadium. Both matches will be broadcast via TV Chosun 2 and Coupang Play.

Ticketing information has yet to be released at the time of writing (9th May).
