The 2025 WK League is almost over, with the playoff spots all tied up and the rankings decided before the teams play their Round 28 fixtures today. Nevertheless, there are four matches happening, and some teams have announced also end-of-season events for their home fans.
This afternoon, Mungyeong Sangmu host (relatively) local rivals Gyeongju KHNP. Gyeongju’s playoff hopes were dashed by a home defeat at the hands of Incheon Hyundai on Monday, so the only thing on the line in Mungyeong is pride, but before the 15:00 kickoff, spectators can enjoy a concert featuring popular vocal group Koyote and a pair of local trot singers. There will also be a raffle, with the top prize of a washing machine up for grabs. Sangmu regularly attract the largest crowds in the WK League, and the added draw of the concert could help them set a record. It should be a fun afternoon for those who can get to Mungyeong Civic Stadium by 13:20.

Sejong Sportstoto’s final home match of the season will see them take on freshly crowned 2025 regular league champions Hwacheon KSPO in a 19:00 kickoff at Sejong Civic Stadium. Before kickoff we expect to see a celebration of Sejong’s Shim Damyoung, who on Monday reached the milestone of 200 WK League appearances. It’s also her birthday today! The club will also be providing chicken for fans to enjoy while watching tonight’s match.
Meanwhile in Incheon, the Red Angels’ most loyal supporters can expect rewards as their team hosts Suwon FC in their final home match of 2025. This year the club has operated a loyalty card system, with fans collecting stamps for attending matches at the Incheon Namdong Asiad Stadium. Those who have dutifully shown up to all fourteen of Incheon’s home fixtures will be able to claim a Red Angels tumbler and tote bag tonight by showing their attendance card at the desk in front of Gate W1. All supporters (perfect attendance record or not) can also pick up a Red Angels slogan towel on their way into the match to help the team “create the moment of the season” when everyone holds their towel up at the same time.
The final match on tonight’s schedule sees Seoul City travel to Changnyeong Sports Park for the end of an era as Changnyeong WFC’s contract with Changnyeong County Sports Council expires and the team is set to be dissolved. Changnyeong have had a dreadful season as a small squad with limited resources, and without funding from the local sports council and federation, there is no way for the team to continue to operate. With a new team being established in Jeonnam’s Gangjin County, the WK League will remain at eight teams, but the loss of Changnyeong WFC is a huge disappointment for local fans. Gangjin WFC is a newly established team (rather than the existing Changnyeong WFC moving to a new home base) but it seems likely that a number of current Changnyeong players will play for Gangjin next season, in an echo of Changnyeong WFC’s own foundation after the dissolution of Icheon Daekyo. The exact details of what will happen to players still under contract remain unclear, although with the 2025 season coming to a close and a manager now appointed at Gangjin, we can expect to hear more soon.
