South Korea’s women to play in FIFA Series in April

Following the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in March, South Korea’s women will be in action again in April as they travel to Brazil for the FIFA Series

South Korea will play in the debut edition of the Women’s FIFA Series, a friendly international tournament set to take place this spring. The Men’s FIFA Series first took place in 2024 as a pilot scheme featuring 24 men’s teams. The Series was launched with the aims of creating more opportunities for national teams to play against sides from other confederations and supporting the development of football across the globe.

The 2026 edition will feature 36 men’s and 12 women’s sides. The Korean women’s team will travel to Brazil in April for the tournament. In addition to the host nation, they will play matches against Canada and Zambia. The exact dates and times of matches are yet to be confirmed.

With the AFC Women’s Asian Cup taking place in March, we can expect to see some rotation in Shin Sangwoo’s squad for the FIFA Series. Much like last year’s Pink Ladies’ Cup, this tournament could provide a valuable opportunity for younger players to gain international experience, especially with the 2027 Women’s World Cup approaching. Korea are yet to qualify for the tournament but will be hoping to secure their spot through a strong performance in the Asian Cup.

For fans and followers of women’s football in Korea, the 2026 schedule is starting to fill up. In addition to fixtures for the senior national team at the Asian Cup and FIFA Series, Korea’s under-20 side will be in action at the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup in April, and Suwon FC will travel to China at the end of March for their AWCL quarter final against defending champions Wuhan Jiangda. The 2026 WK League fixture list is yet to be released.
