Choi Hanbin to Montreal Roses, Jeong Eunuk to Spartak Subotica

Choi Hanbin has signed her first professional contract with Canadian side Montréal Roses, while Jeong Eunuk joins Kang Suhee in Serbia

Following Daeduk University alum Kim Seyeon’s move to Poland earlier this month, Jeong Eunuk has become the latest Korean to join a European club, signing with Serbian club Spartak Subotica. Jeong, sometimes known as Uki, previously played for Ellerslie AFC in New Zealand before signing her first professional contract with Mongolian side Khovd Western last summer. In Serbia, Jeong is reunited with compatriot and former Ellerslie teammate Kang Suhee, the only goalkeeper in the history of women’s football to play overseas. Kang is currently at Spartak on loan from Italy’s US Sassuolo.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old winger Choi Hanbin, previously of Korea University, has signed her first professional contract with Montréal Roses. Choi has been a standout talent at youth level, earning several individual accolades for her goalscoring ability, which has helped Korea U claim a number of trophies over the past two years. The Roses’ sporting director Marinette Pichon said, of Choi: “She represented South Korea at the senior level while still in university — that speaks to her quality. She scores goals, she’s fast, she’s direct.” Choi is Montréal’s second Korean player after Kang Chaerim joined the side last summer.

In other overseas news, Son Hwayeon’s contract with Swedish club AIK Fotboll has come to an end, and Casey Yujin Phair has returned to Angel City FC following a loan spell at Djurgårdens IF Fotboll in Sweden.
