Manager Shin Sangwoo has named his squad to represent Korea Republic at next month’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia. South Korea are in Group A along with the hosts, Iran, and the Philippines.
There are few surprises in this final squad, as Shin has used friendly matches in recent months to experiment with several combinations of players, formations and systems. All eight WK League sides are represented on the 26-strong call-up sheet, with a total of eighteen players from Korean clubs and eight currently active overseas.
Notably absent are Lee Geummin (Birmingham City) and Lee Youngju (Gyeongju KHNP). Both have been mainstays of South Korea’s squad over the last few years, with the latter serving as captain since Shin Sangwoo took over as manager.
