WK League stars honoured at 2025 KFA Awards

Gyeongju’s Jang Selgi, Seoul’s Kim Minji, and Hwacheon manager Kang Sunmi were among the winners at the Korea Football Association’s flagship annual award ceremony

The annual Korea Football Association (KFA) Awards were held this week at the Korea Football Park in Cheonan, with players, coaches and officials from across both the men’s and women’s game recognised for their contributions to football in 2025.

Stars from the WK League were among those honoured at the event, with Gyeongju KHNP and South Korea national team defender Jang Selgi named as Women’s Player of the Year. Jang has won the award twice previously, in 2018 and 2020. KFA Player of the Year awards are given based on votes from officials and coaches within the KFA as well as representatives from the press. Ji Soyun, who has received the award on eight previous occasions, received second-most votes, while 2025 WK League MVP Jung Jiyeon came in third place.

Kim Minji of Seoul City Amazones took home the Women’s Young Player award. Having recovered from an ACL injury sustained in June 2024, Kim played a key role in Seoul’s league campaign last year as well as making her senior international debut at the East Asian Cup.

Hwacheon KSPO’s Kang Sunmi won the Women’s Coach award. Having served as a coach at KSPO for several years, Kang took over as manager in 2025 and led the club to its first WK League championship title, completing the first-ever domestic treble in the history of Korean women’s football.
