Korean trio join Serbian side Spartak Subotica

Choi Somi, An Sebin and Sim Hyojeong are the latest additions to Spartak’s squad as the club aims for its fourteenth league title

Spartak Subotica this week announced the signing of three former WK League players, bringing the total number of Korean players at the Serbian first division side up to six. According to the club, Choi Somi, An Sebin, and Sim Hyojeong have been brought in to “reinforce” the squad as it aims to add to its trophy cabinet with a record-extending 14th league title this season.

Choi Somi is a veteran of the WK League, having debuted with Goyang Daekyo in 2013. After two seasons at Daekyo she spent a few years at Sportstoto before joining Suwon FC in 2020. She won the WK League title with Suwon in 2024, then donned the captain’s armband last year to lead the team in their first foray into continental competition. Defender Choi earned a handful of international caps with South Korea at U-20 and Universiade level, but has never broken through into the senior team. At 33 years old, Choi’s move to Spartak will give her her first taste of club football outside of the WK League.

Forward An Sebin joins Spartak from Malaysian club Sabah FC, where she spent the latter half of 2025. 25-year-old An played for Gyeongju KHNP from 2023-2024, having joined the club from nearby Uiduk University. 28-year-old midfielder Sim previously played for Hanyang Women’s University before joining WK League side Mungyeong Sangmu (known at the time as Boeun Sangmu) in 2018. She has already been in action for Spartak in their league fixture against ZFK Radnicki last weekend. Choi and An were both on the bench for the match.

At Spartak the trio join compatriots Jeong Eunuk, who signed with the club earlier this winter; Kim Soyi, who joined the club last summer after a spell in Australia; and Kang Suhee, a goalkeeper on loan at Spartak from Italian side US Sassuolo.
