The KWFF this afternoon released the full list of fixtures for the 2026 WK League, which begins on Saturday, 4th April. Compared to previous years, there are more weekend matches, and matches in the same round do not necessarily all take place at the same time, making more fixtures more accessible to a greater number of fans.
New (but not really) team Gangjin Swans are in at the deep end with their first match, an away trip to Hwacheon Sports Park, home of reigning champions KSPO. The two sides are just shy of 500km away from each other by road. The men’s top tier K League has seen a new side defeat the reigning champions on the first day of the season for two years in a row — will the Swans be able to cause a similar upset?
Meanwhile, Suwon FC will host Seoul City Amazones at Suwon Sports Complex. It’s not the only Suwon-Seoul clash of the day, as Suwon FC’s men’s team will be in the capital to play against Seoul E-Land in K League 2 at the same time. Suwon fans will have to choose which of their club’s teams to support on the day, but the arrival of some big names in the women’s team over the winter might help draw in a crowd. That said, the Amazones will probably fancy their chances against a Suwon side just back from their AWCL quarter final against Wuhan Jiangda.
The third fixture of the day sees military team Mungyeong Sangmu travel to Sejong Civic Stadium to face Sejong Sportstoto. Despite bold talk about making a push for the playoffs last year, Sportstoto struggled to score points against top-half teams and found themselves in fifth place for the third year in a row. Sangmu weren’t far behind them in sixth. Sejong have been busy during the transfer window, bringing in several experienced players alongside their draftees, and home fans will be keen to see them take all three points on opening day.
Rounding out the first day of the 2026 WK League, Gyeongju KHNP welcome old rivals Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels to Gyeongju Football Park, where they will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last year’s Round 1, in which they suffered a shock 1-4 defeat at the hands of Seoul City. With new manager Park Namyeol at the helm and much of last year’s star-studded squad intact, KHNP will be determined to start their season with a decisive victory. However, equally determined to do so will be the Red Angels, whose squad has undergone a massive overhaul ahead of Hur Jeongjae’s second season in charge.
All Round 1 matches kick off at 14:00 on Saturday, 4th April 2026. Details of all 2026 WK League fixtures will be added to the WK League News fixtures page very soon!
