KWFF to operate QR code entry system for 2026 matches

The KWFF’s updated website has revealed a QR code entry system for use at 2026 matches, in an apparent attempt to standardise entry procedures and gather better attendance data

The Korea Women’s Football Federation (KWFF) has revamped its website ahead of the 2026 season, revealing that despite talk of introducing paid entry for all WK League matches, a paid ticketing system will not be introduced this year. Instead, it appears that the federation will operate a QR code entry system to standardise the procedure across all venues, gather more accurate attendance numbers, and lay the groundwork for paid entry in the future.

According to the website, attendance will be free to all, and there will be no need to obtain a ticket. However, all spectators will be required to scan a QR code upon entering the stadium. Regular matchgoers can obtain a QR code for use throughout the 2026 season by registering for an online KWFF user account (note that mobile phone verification is required). For more casual spectators or one-off visitors, it will be possible to obtain a single-use QR code by registering at the ground. The exact process for on-the-day registration is not yet clear, but presumably it will be a viable option for non-residents who are unable to complete mobile phone verification. It is also unclear how this change will impact Suwon FC, the only WK League club to charge for tickets in previous years.

There is also a change coming for those watching from afar: unlike in recent years when the WK League has been broadcast via iTop21 Sports, the KWFF will stream matches via its own YouTube channel.

The KWFF website now also has up-to-date information on WK League teams and fixtures, as well as on the women’s U League (college football) and the other domestic tournaments organised by the federation. For now, preparation for the 2026 season has been prioritised, but past records and results will also be added to the site in due course. There is a ‘match centre’ for each individual WK League game, making it much easier for fans to check not only scores, but also information such as goalscorers, cards, and substitutions. Supporters will also be able to vote for a Round MVP and Best 11.

Expect to hear more details about the upcoming season at the 2026 WK League Media Day, happening at 14:00 this afternoon (1 April) in Seoul. The event will be broadcast via the KWFF YouTube channel.
