South Korea international defender Noh Jinyoung has formally ended her military service and left Mungyeong Sangmu after four years at the club. Noh’s contributions to the club throughout that time were recognised with a presentation after Sangmu’s Round 8 match against Sejong Sportstoto earlier this month.
Noh, who got her first taste of international football at youth level, made her WK League debut in 2021 with Sportstoto before making a successful application to join Sangmu the following year. She has been a key player for Mungyeong in recent seasons, with the team’s victory at the 2023 World Military Women’s Football Championship a particular highlight.
An agile and adaptable full-back, Noh got her first opportunity to represent South Korea at the senior level in 2024 as part of Shin Sangwoo’s first squad as manager. She has since been a regular feature of Shin’s team, contributing to South Korea’s victory at the 2025 East Asian Cup, and playing in four of the country’s five matches at this year’s Asian Cup.
Now 25 years old, Noh has decided to leave the military life behind to focus exclusively on football and take the next step in her playing career. She was formally discharged from the army at the end of April. Noh wrote on Instagram that she has been happy at Mungyeong Sangmu, sharing a selection of photos from throughout her time with the club.
Noh will be missed at Mungyeong Sangmu, a team that has been punching above its weight so far this season. The military side currently sits in second place in the league by the slimmest of margins, with five wins in eight matches, the same as leaders Hwacheon KSPO. The top two teams go head-to-head this Saturday in their second meeting of the season at Mungyeong Civic Stadium. Sangmu claimed a 1-0 victory when they met in Hwacheon in April.
