South Korea international Kang Chaerim is making a return to the WK League after a spell in Canada with Montreal Roses FC. Kang, who has previously played for Incheon Hyundai and Suwon FC, has signed with Gangjin Swans, the club announced yesterday.
Kang made her league debut for Incheon in 2019, having joined the club as one of the top picks at the WK League new players draft. After winning four titles with the Red Angels, Kang made the move to Suwon FC, where she was part of the 2024 title-winning squad.
There were rumours of a move overseas ahead of the 2025 season, but this didn’t come to fruition until last summer, when left Suwon FC to join Northern Super League side Montreal Roses. She has made eighteen appearances for the club across two seasons, becoming popular among Roses fans, but recently requested a contract termination, hoping to return to Korea to be closer to family. The club agreed, and officially announced Kang’s departure last week.
Having made her final appearance in Canada on 25th June, Kang is now preparing for a return to WK League action, this time joining Gangjin Swans as the side seeks to end a nine-match winless run.
