South Korea women’s national team manager Shin Sangwoo has named his squad for the 20th Asian Games, set to take place in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture later this year. 20 of the 23 players selected are currently active in the WK League, with all eight of the league’s clubs represented. The draw for the group stage of the tournament is scheduled for 23rd July.
There are few surprises in Shin’s squad, which comprises veterans such as Ji Soyun, Kim Hyeri, Jang Selgi, and Choe Yuri, and younger squad members who have nevertheless become regulars in the national team of late — the likes of Kim Minji, Jung Minyoung, and Lee Minhwa.
Alongside this core of established squad members is a quartet of newer faces who all made their international debut earlier this year at the qualifying tournament for the 2028 EAFF E-1 Football Championship: Jung Yoojin, Han Da-in, Yoon Soojung, and Park Yena. Today’s squad announcement also saw Seoul City captain Kang Taekyung receive her first senior international call-up.
